FAQs

We will briefly cover basic information on uncomplicated pregnancy and childbirth physiology to allow for better understanding of the processes at play in various complications. Please see my Acute Postpartum Course which includes an entry level review of pregnancy anatomy, physiology and organ system changes.

Gaps I had in my pelvic training that I made sure to include in this course include:

  • Physiology of common high-risk complications
  • Implications of high-risk complications for mom, baby and PT/OT care
  • Providing ongoing care to pregnant patients with high-risk complications beyond bed exercises
  • How much/what kinds of activity and exercise are safe for different complication diagnoses
  • Signs and symptoms to indicate modifying or stopping an activity is warranted

If you feel you have any of these gaps in your pregnancy care knowledge, this course would be a great fit for you!

Absolutely! Dr. Locati is primarily an acute care therapist who specializes in seeing high-risk antepartum patients in the hospital setting.

Yes! Many high-risk patients are never admitted to the hospital and instead are put on activity restrictions while remaining at home. The principles in this course on evaluating, treating, supporting and monitoring high-risk pregnant patients apply across settings. You’ll be able to use these principles to help patients navigate home life and desired activities while having a high-risk complication.

Yes! This course emphasizes what the concepts covered truly mean for someone trying to live their life with a high-risk pregnancy and includes a case study we will walk through in detail to apply the principles of the course to based on Dr. Locati's experience treating the high-risk pregnancy population.

Once you have completed the course, a certificate of completion (including learning hours and course information) will be generated. You can download this certificate at any time. To learn more about course certificates on Embodia please visit this guide.

Yes, this course has been approved for 5hrs of PHYSICAL THERAPY CEUs in the state of Texas. Most US states will accept CEUs that have been approved in another state so PTs taking the course in the US can submit their certificate to their state for CEU credit.
